Ilene Haddad is a graphic designer, cartoonist, and writer from Austin, Texas. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, Austin’s NPR outlet, Foliate Oak Literary Magazine, the National Headache Foundation, and the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop. She was a winner in the WOW! Women on Writing creative nonfiction essay contest and a two-time finalist in the Writers’ League of Texas’ manuscript contest. She also received an honorable mention in the Erma Bombeck Humorist in Residence competition for her current project, a graphic memoir about her mixed/mixed up marriage. Her cartoons have appeared on The Syndrome Mag, High Shelf Press, and her mom’s refrigerator.

Ilene studied graphic design at the University of Texas at Austin and has run her own design studio for over 20 years. She was a recipient of the Women in Communications’ Anne Durrum Robinson Creative Initiative Award for founding BlogathonATX, a central Texas blogging conference, and was an Austin American-Statesman Social Media Award finalist.

Ilene lives with her quirky husband and two useless lapdogs, all of whom inspire her work and feature prominently in her cartoons and book-in-progress. She spends way too much time on social media. You can find her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It is virtually impossible not to find her.
